Vimeo is absolutely gorgeous

Sorry to state the obvious :

vimeo

Perhaps it is so beautiful that somehow I feel less inspired to mindlessly browse videos like I do in YouTube (say, for example, Keyboard Cat videos (arguably brillant in their own right)).  Vimeo makes me more inspired to search for, I don’t know, interpretive dance or clips of opera singers.  Can clutter-free design reduce the clutter in our thoughts?   Anyhow, this morning I cannot get past the bold and beautiful Vimeo : look at those magnifcent colors, look at those huge buttons…and a bold maneuver : my personal avatar is HUGE.   Kudos to the designers : I love you.

Openfilm is also very good. http://openfilm.com Worth checking out. Openfilm and Vimeo are way out in front.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll check it out (I’m a big fan of the design / “personalization” aspect of Vimeo which is, in my opinion, very “indiscriminate design.” A brief look at Openfilm and it seems targeted at the independent film community (ie. not at my mom)). Though one thing is clear, YouTube is no longer appealing for the artist / cinephile. It’s a damn shame when things become really popular ! Also, thanks for checking out my blog !
